My best friend found out she was pregnant at the same time as me. We then came to find out we were due exactly 1 week apart. She was due November 4th and I was due November 11th. She had a pretty healthy pregnancy for the most part other than the normal aches and pains of carrying all that extra weight on her body. The sad day came when she woke up for a doctors appointment and realized she had begun to bleed. She called her doctor right away and they told her just to come in. NOT EVEN TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL!!! But to come in to her appointment still that day. Knowing this poor girl is sitting in the waiting room bleeding and scared to death wonderingw hat is wrong with her son they still made her wait. A very long time too. When she finally saw the doctor they sent her straight to the hospital. She was 23 weeks pregnant and ready to deliver a 17 week preemie baby. They put her on bedsrest and gave her steroids to help her baby gorw. They did a test on her which showed her son would be born anytime within the next two weeks. She laid in bed for 2 weeks not even able to get up to use the bathroom. Her boyfriend by her side the whole time.
At 25 weeks her water broke and 6 minutes later she brought a beautiful 1 lb. 13oz. 10 inch little boy into this world. She struggled everyday with knowing whether or not her son would make it. At a couple weeks old he went under for heart surgery and it was a success. He was later transferred to Riley hospital in Indianapolis where his mother would driver 6 hours every weekend there and back to see her little man grow stronger.
She finally brought him home right after thanksgiving when he was 4 months old. This little boy grew so much he was the same size as my daughter who should have been the same age as him had he not been born premature.
He underwent a test a couple months ago to see if he could finally start bottle feeding so his mommy would no longer have to stick feeding tubes down his nose every 3 days and listen to him crying in pain but he failed.
Well he goes back tomorrow to Indianapolis to have that same test done and also a test to check his oxygen levels so that they can take him off of all of his tanks and monitors and live a free life without all these wires attached to him.
I am asing you to keep him in your thoughts and prayers. I love this little boy dearly and he means as much to me as my own daughter does. I've been next to my friend through this rough journey the entire way. He is 6 months old now and ready to be a normal baby without the restrications.
Thank you to anyone who took the time out to read this and keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
